Welcome to the St. Louis Woodworkers Guild (SLWG). The Guild is a non-profit organization open to all woodworkers in the St. Louis metropolitan area and beyond. Our membership includes residents from the outlying areas of both Missouri and Illinois. The SLWG welcomes professionals, hobbyists, beginners and those who are simply thinking about getting into the hobby of woodworking. Join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council Apprentice & Training Center on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM CDT.

    About the Event

    Guided by Jim Clarkin, this special event offers members an inside look at one of the region’s premier training facilities for the skilled trades. The evening will feature a tour of the state-of-the-art campus with a special emphasis on the Cabinet Makers Shop, where apprentices develop the craftsmanship and technical skills required for professional woodworking and architectural millwork.

    Participants will also learn about the Journeyman Program, including career pathways, continuing education opportunities, and the advanced training available to members of the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council. The visit concludes with an opportunity to view a variety of student projects that showcase the precision, creativity, and craftsmanship developed through the apprenticeship program.

    Whether you’re a woodworking enthusiast, a professional craftsman, or simply interested in learning more about advanced woodworking education and apprenticeship training, this promises to be an informative and inspiring evening.

This 1,200 sq. ft. treasure is a charmingly transformed century-old chicken coop, now a vibrant woodshop brimming with state-of-the-art power tools and an advanced dust collection system. Join us for engaging classes and community outreach programs, such as our beloved Toys and Home-Sweet Home Table initiatives.
